Support Worker - Assertive Outreach

Location: Belfast - Street-based service
Salary: £25,584
Hours: Up to 37.5 hours per week (full-time and part-time options available)

About the Service
The Welcome Organisation’s Assertive Street Outreach Team works directly with people who are rough sleeping or at risk of rough sleeping across Belfast.

Our team engages with people in public spaces, builds trusting relationships and provides practical support to help individuals access accommodation and other services. Outreach is often the first point of contact for people experiencing homelessness and is a vital part of the support provided by The Welcome Organisation.

About the Role
We’re recruiting Support Workers to join our Assertive Street Outreach Team, specifically working across our afternoon and late shifts from 1:45pm to 2:15am.

A standard full-time working week consists of 3 x 12.5-hour shifts (37.5 hours), including paid meal and rest breaks. We’re also happy to hear from applicants interested in part-time roles of one or two shifts per week.

As a Support Worker, you’ll carry out daily welfare checks with people known to us who are sleeping rough, respond to newly identified individuals and provide practical support to help people access the services they need.

About You
You’ll have at least one year’s experience working with and supporting people with complex needs across the Belfast area. We’re looking for people who are compassionate, resilient and able to build positive relationships with individuals who may have experienced homelessness, trauma, addiction, poor mental or physical health and other complex challenges.

Support Worker - Catherine House

Location: Catherine House - Supported Accommodation for Women
Salary: £26,409 (Full-Time Equivalent)
Hours: Full-time (37.5 hours) and part-time (12.5 hours)
Contract: Full-time and part-time vacancies available

About the Service

Catherine House is The Welcome Organisation’s first supported accommodation service for women, established in 2023. The service provides a safe, therapeutic and trauma-informed environment for up to 10 women who have experienced homelessness as a result of challenges including mental ill-health, addiction, domestic and sexual violence, adverse childhood experiences and other trauma.

Our team supports women to build stability, confidence and the skills needed to move towards independent living.

About the Role

We’re recruiting Support Workers to join our dedicated Catherine House team, providing practical and emotional support to women as they prepare to move into and maintain their own accommodation.

As a 24/7 service, Catherine House operates the following shifts:

- Day shifts: 8:00am- 8:30pm
- Night shifts: 8:00pm - 8:30am

Current vacancies include:

- 3 x Full-time Night Support Workers (37.5 hours per week)
- 2 x Part-time Night Support Workers (12.5 hours per week)
- 1 x Full-time Day Support Worker (37.5 hours per week)
- 1 x Part-time Day Support Worker (12.5 hours per week)

About You

We’re looking for compassionate, enthusiastic and committed individuals who are passionate about supporting women affected by homelessness and trauma.

Catherine House is a protected women-only environment due to the gender-based trauma experienced by many residents. Under the Genuine Occupational Qualification provisions of the Sex Discrimination (Northern Ireland) Order 1976, applications can only be accepted from women.
