PROMOTING YOUR FUNDRAISING
Promoting your fundraising is one of the best ways to hit your goal. Whether you're on social media, chatting with friends, or reaching out to local press – every share counts. Here are some tips and tools to help you get the word out.
Add a Personal Touch
Use your story and personality to connect with supporters:
-
Share why you're fundraising - what inspired you?
-
Add a photo of yourself, your team, or the challenge.
-
Be heartfelt, honest, or even funny - whatever is most comfortable to you.
-
Share the word through emails, personal messages and social media.
Social Media Tips
Use your pages to their full potential:
-
Post regular updates! This can include training, planning, countdowns, etc.
-
Use captions like "I'm sleeping out to support people facing homelessness. Join me by making a donation to The Welcome Organisation. Every £ counts in the fight to end homelessness! Donate here: [link to fundraiser page]. #SleepOutForChange"
-
Use relevant hashtags and tag The Welcome in your posts. You can follow us on Instagram, Facebook and LinkedIn.
-
Ask your friends and family to reshare your posts.
-
Add your fundraiser page link to your bio or pin it on your profile.
Use Posters and Fundraising Materials
Offline promotion is still very useful!
-
Put up flyers and posters in your workplace, school, or local community centres. Let everyone know about your fundraiser!
-
Ask local shops and businesses to display your flyers and posters. They might also want to get more involved by donating raffle prizes or a venue space for your event.

Don't Forget Gift Aid!
Remember to remind your sponsors to click the Gift Aid box when donating online! It means we can collect an extra 25% on their donation - at no extra cost to them or you.
You can also download a Gift Aid template for your offline donations here.
Contact Local Media
A good story can be newsworthy!
-
Reach out to local newspapers, radio or community blogs.
-
Share what you're doing and why.
-
Offer them a photo or invite them to your event.

After Your Fundraising Activity
Don't lost momentum now!
-
Thank your supporters! Make sure to show your gratitude to those who have generously donated, volunteered at your event, or even just shared your posts.
-
Pay in your money. If you registered your fundraiser online through Enthuse or JustGiving, the donations will go straight to The Welcome - no more work for you! If you took offline donations, go to the How To Pay In Donations page to learn how to return your fundraising.
-
Be loud and proud about your success! Share about your activity and how much you raised with friends and family, on social media, and with the local news sources!
